The Christmas Warmth:

Such Memorable Moments:
This Christmas it was all about creating new traditions and sharing the most memorable moments together.
The warmth of a home filled with Friends and Family made me realize that although I'm far away from home we can still bond together to remember the true meaning of Christmas. To remember our New Born King.
Having the opportunity to laugh, share and fellowship together was delightful. Isn't that what Christmas is all about?!

On that Special day I chose to wear an elegant navy blue bodycon dress by River Island. To make it more festive and colorful I wore a neon accentuated statement necklace by H&M. The shoes (old) are from BCBG. I Love how the shoes elongate my legs, which is exactly the look that I wanted to create with this just below the knee dress.

I hope You have enjoyed your Christmas and may you continue to enjoy your Holiday season.
Thx for reading!

1 year natural

I love My natural Hair:

These were my exact words last year around this time: " Wow I did it...hair down"

Around this time of the year many of us take valuable time to write down our new year's resolutions and to reflect upon the many events, accomplishments and  trials that has passed us by.

No doubt at all, I was doing the same thing last year.
It was then that it had HIT ME: during 2011 I have been constantly confronted with the fact that my hair has suffered years and years of damage due to chemical processing. Moving to the Netherlands was harsh on my hair, the extremely low temperatures combined with tap water loaded with calcium made it worst. My hair got extremely dry, unmanageable and wouldn't grow an inch. I would try so many things, buy so many products...nothing really helped.
Restless and desperate I turned to weaving and braiding my hair, that way I didn't really had to deal with it. I braided my hair for 10 months, but because I wasn't taking care of it, my hair was reluctant to growth. My scalp got irritated constantly because of product build up. I was obviously ignoring my hair, it was too painful to deal with.

But there comes I time that you have to confront your fears and face them. I was tired of hiding under hair that wasn't MINE. The constant itching, difficulty to wash my hair, the constant pulling and tension towards  my scalp wasn't making me happy at all. IT WAS TIME FOR A CHANGE, TIME FOR SOMETHING NEW!

In November 2011, I started to Google, YouTube and gather data  from whatever source that was available at that time. I did my research, I read allot and on the 27th of December 2011 I made my move.
The first weeks after my big-chop were a challenge ofcourse. Dealing with the many opinionated people and "experts" on the matter wasn't a tasteful cup to drink. Creating a thick skin was necessity if I wanted to get through.

One year later I still think that reversing my hair to its natural stage was one of the best decisions that I took.
I have learned to love my hair, appreciate it, nourish and take good care of it. I can now identify with my ethnicity, without having to live in the shadow of today's  " beauty standard". I definitely feel reconnected to myself and to my Creator, acknowledging how perfect his works are.

I have enjoyed my journey to the max: So far, so good.
I have been documenting every stage of my journey, so here are some pictures that I took, hope you enjoy them!

Throwback Thursday

My "Glamour Magazine" Moment:

I think that every girl wants to own a piece that stands out from all other.
That special dress you know will remain in your closet for a long period of time.

My mom called me earlier this week telling me that she found one of my old Glamour magazines.
Covering the front was Mexican Actrice Ana Claudia Talancon, wearing that beautiful BCBG dress that I proudly own. I still remember that evening, I was shopping at the grocery store when I saw the magazine on the rack. It was the last copy so I ran as quickly as I could and grabbed it before it's to late. Still need to sit back and laugh so hard about this...crazy me!
But who can blame me? Isn't it every Fashionista's dream to see their first designer dress covering the pages of a well known glossy?

Tnx For Reading!

Tips and Ideas for the Holiday Season:

Hi Guys,
It's been a while since I last posted on my blog...but hey: I'm Back!
After a series of events, changes and adjustments, I finally had the time to come up with some fresh ideas and new outfits.
Since it's the Holiday Season, I know that every girl out there is wondering what to wear during this wonderful time of the year.I also know that secretly most of us wait till the last minute to buy our outfits.
No wonder! Last minute shopping has so may advantages. Most shops offer huge sales on their articles just a few days before X-mas. Prices are drastically reduced for up to three quarters less.
To help out a little bit I've decided to compose some cute outfits that are suitable for this season's events.
The pictures will offer you some tips and ideas on different ways to accessorize your outfits.

The Little Black Dress:
This essential wardrobe piece can be worn many ways and will look great at almost every occasion.
But why keep it dull? Spice it up and add your own personality. Choose from a variety of shapes and textures. Since lace is a big hit during this season, I chose this cute Peplum model that makes my waist look tinier.
Why wear black on black? Be creative! Wear a bright shoe. These Red pointy-toe's add a touch of jazz, and because they are closed shoes, they preserve the chique-ness of the outfit.
Wear bold accessories. This season it's all about statement necklaces and eye-catching clutches. I love how gold accessories can make a black dress Pop. Try not to over-do gold. Incorporate for example a different shaded clutch, that can still complement the whole look. This bullet shaded clutch by Zara has the same rhinestone effect as the other pieces.

Do the classic:
Do the classic look. Add some old Hollywood glamour to your LBD. Rhinestones will always do the work for you, they instantly let you shine like a star.
Keep it young and fresh by wearing these velvet booties.
You can also go all the way glamour by wearing some black pumps.
Jewel tones:
Dress yourself as beautiful as gemstones. Wear jewel tones for the Holiday season. This particular dress is a cross between purple and fuchsia. I wanted to accentuate my waist by wearing an elastic-band belt. Black and Gold will always look great on jewel tones. Draw a line through the outfit by keeping the belt and shoes black, while playing with the other pieces.
Add some fun accessories:

This look was inspired by Miss Carry Bradshaw. She is the #1 muse when it comes to mixing and matching a variety of accessories, shoes and bags together. Draw a line through the outfit by keeping the belt and clutch black.
Play around with the rest of the look and add some fun accessories. I wore these cute earrings by H&M and these fun glitter pumps by Steve Madden.
I so love the fluffy clutch! This outfit is a nice alternative for New year's eve.
The Trousers:
Combine jewel tone with jewel tone. How cute is this peacock inspired clutch?( It's a Matteuw Williamson for H&M clutch that I bought years ago) It perfectly compliments the bold cuff.
Not in the mood for showing legs? Wear some trousers! I paired mines with this beautiful jewel toned blouse. The gold and blue accentuated accessories instantly Pop the color of the blouse while keeping the rest of the look interesting.
I Hope you've enjoyed this post as much as I've enjoyed writing it to you. Remember most Importantly that CHRISTmas is a time to celebrate the birth of our new born King. A Season to gather with family and friends and spend some valuable time together. These are the moments that we will always remember.

Enjoy your Holidays!
